DesktopSlides: Desktop Wallpaper Changer For Windows XP/Vista

Windows 7 users have a built-in feature which can run a slideshow of desktop backgrounds with a customizable frequency. Windows Vista and Windows XP users need not get disappointed. Here is a free tool, DesktopSlides which lets you change wallpaper automatically after a specified number of minutes.

DesktopSlides lets you load a set of wallpapers present in a folder. You can then filter them by display/screen ratio, shuffle them and position them (tile, stretch, fit to screen). This multithreaded wallpaper changer application takes advantage of multi core processors and supports 64 bit mode where available.

How To Fix "Windows is not Genuine" Problem With Error Code Of 0x80070005 In Windows 7?

You may face "Windows is not Genuine" problem in your Windows 7 PC. During this problem, Windows displays message with the error code: Windows is not genuine. Your computer might not be running a counterfeit copy of Windows. 0x80070005.

The problem may arise due to applying a Plug and Play Group Policy.

Solution: The simplest solution is to disable Plug and Play Policy. Follow the step-by-step guide given below:

1. Login as administrator of your PC.

2. Click Start > Run

3. Type rsop.msc in the search box and hit enter.

4. In the following Resultant Set of Policy window, propagate to:

Computer Configuration / Windows Settings / Security Settings / System Services /

RSoP-plug-and-play

In the right side pane, look for Plug and Play service. You should change the permission to "Not Defined". To do so just double click on the service, Uncheck "Define this policy setting" and choose "Disabled" in the "Select service startup mode" section.

5. Click OK and exit RSoP.

6. Click Start > Type gpupdate /force and hit enter.

Windows will now update the policy. A reboot may be necessary.

Change Windows User Password Remotely over Network with WinPasswd

Sometimes you may want to change system password of a Windows PC remotely over the network. Normally you can do this manually by logging into that machine and changing the password manually through it's Control Panel. However in cases where a network administrator needs to do a bulk change of passwords, it is very time consuming and tiring to change passwords manually.

Here is a free and open source tool, WinPasswd which allows you to change Windows user password remotely over the network easily.

Get Nexus One Animated Wallpapers On Motorola Droid With Android 2.1

Google is coming up with it's own Android based phone. Called Nexus One, this one will be built by HTC and sold online unlocked so that you can choose to use your own carrier. Nexus One which comes with has a built-in feature to set animated wallpaper as your phone's background. It is now possible to enable this feature on a rooted Motorola Droid with Android 2.1.

If you haven't already rooted your Motorola Droid phone, check out our article on how to root Motorola Droid phone with Android 2.1.

The DroidForums have given a work around to set animated wallpapers on your rooted Motorola Droid running Android 2.1 ROM.

Disclaimer: Follow the below instructions at your own risk. This may brick your phone and we are not responsible in case of any damage.

Here are the steps:

1. You need to download the following two zip files, one of them being the necessary lib files to enable the feature and the other is a set of animated wallpapers.

2. Unzip these files and copy them to your SD Card. For convenience create two separate folders, say 'libs' and the other 'wallp' and copy the files to the respective folders.

3. Restart your Droid phone in the recover console.

4. Select mount sub-menu.

5. Mount SDCARD and system

6. Type busybox cp /sdcard/libs /system/lib (copying the contents of libs folder to your system's lib folder)

7. Type busybox cp /sdcard/wallp /system/app (copying contents of the wallp folder on your memory card to your system's app folder)

8. Unmount both sdcard and system.

9. Restart your phone.

You should now be able to set the animated wallpapers as phone background.
